Registration for the Molecular Medicine Day

Dear Colleagues,

The 13th Molecular Medicine Day will be held on Thursday 5th of February 2009. This day is a meeting with oral presentations and posters presented by PhD-students, Post-docs and Research Technicians of all the departments of the Research School. It is without a doubt that this will result in a nice overview of the research done at the different departments. As last year this will be supplemented with keynote sessions. This year the keynote session will be by Prof. Dr. Elisa Izaurralde of the Max-Planck-Institute for Developmental Biology, Tübingen, Germany. The day ends with drinks and dinner (free!). The location for the meeting is Congress Centre and Hotel Restaurant Engels next to Rotterdam Central station.

In order to organize a day with such a diversity of presentations, we invite PhD students, Post-docs and Research Technicians from the Postgraduate School Molecular Medicine to submit an abstract for either a poster or an oral presentation. REGISTRATION AND SUBMITTING AN ABSTRACT MUST BE DONE AT THE SAME TIME. The abstracts can only be submitted automatically via this website: www.molmed.nl.
This is only possible before Monday 5 January 10.00 a.m. the latest. We will select 14 abstracts for oral presentation of which approx. 10 from PhD students and 4 from Post-docs and Research Technicians.

If you subscribe first without an abstract, and you want to submit an abstract later, YOU HAVE TO SUBSCRIBE AGAIN WITH YOUR ABSTRACT. We will then cancel your first subscription. But please try to avoid this!

Registrations without abstract can be submitted until Wednesday January 30th 2009.

PREPARATION ABSTRACT:

  • Abstracts should contain max. 3000 characters for the whole text including spaces (this is about 450 words). We use a standard format in four paragraphs with separate headings.
  • Please do only use text, NO HEADINGS, because these are made automatically.
  • Do NOT USE hard returns at the end of the lines.
  • Your title in CAPITAL letters should give a clear indication of the research and refer to the actual content of the abstract.
  • Avoid non-standard abbreviations in the title.
  • Please indicate a suitable topic for your abstract (i.e. infectious diseases, immunology etc.).

Authors/ Affiliation:
For each author, type the first name followed by initials and surname. Underline the name of the presenting author. Use a new line to specify the name of the department(s) and institute(s) where the work was performed.
Abstract content is maximum 3000 characters including spaces. For the abstract content, use the four headings of the format on the website: Introduction / Materials & methods / Results / Discussion & conclusion. Add 5 keywords.
Indicate which theme of the Molecular Medicine School best suits the research:

  • Endocrinology & Aging;
  • Hematopoiesis & Lymphopoiesis;
  • Solid Tumours;
  • Infections & Host Responses.

Indicate whether you are a PhD student, Post-doc, Research technician, etc.

Also indicate at the bottom of your abstract whether you have a preference for an oral- or a poster-presentation and whether you allow us to publish your abstract on the web site of the research school.

PREPARATION POSTER: (Please read this carefully!)

  • Please write your poster in English.
  • Poster boards are 1.5 x 1m (h x w) = portrait!

We plan the poster presentation in one poster walk (1,5 hour) in the afternoon in which each poster is introduced followed by a short discussion. The moderators will lead the poster walks. There is also time for everyone to walk around to watch the posters.

With best regards,
The Molecular Medicine Day Organising Committee
