Workshop on Photoshop and Illustrator CS4 for PhD-students and other researchers

In September already three Workshops on Photoshop and Illustator CS4 are planned.

Dates: t.b.d. (in 2010)

Time: t.b.d. (two half days)

Location: Erasmus MC, Computer room Ee-15.28 at the Bioinformatics Dept., Rotterdam, the Netherlands

Most likely on an afternoon with the second part on a morning, the school organizes this two half-day hands-on Workshop on the use of Photoshop and Illustrator CS4 to edit and refine images for medical publications and to make and adapt figures, graphs and tables.
It is especially meant for medical PhD-students, Agiko’s and others who wants to know more about making figures for publications in scientific journals, such as Nature, Science and others. Both programs, Photoshop and Illustrator, will be dealt with evenly. The Nature-guidelines will be used as guidelines for designing the images. It is possible to bring your own images as well.
This workshop uses the Adobe program Photoshop CS4 and Illustrator CS4 which can be bought at a heavily reduced price for all Erasmus MC employees via Surfspot.nl (as part of the Creative Suite CS4). All Erasmus MC employees who have a SOM-pc will have access to Photoshop CS3.

Basic knowledge of Photoshop and/or Illustrator is useful, but not necessary.

Teachers & assistants
This workshop will be given by Egied Simons of the dept. of Hematology. He will be assisted by Frank van der Panne of the dept. of Pathology, Tom De Vries Lentsch of Cluster Bureau 15 (dept. of Cell Biology and Genetics) and/or Ruud Koppenol of Cluster Bureau 15 (dept. of Cell Biology and Genetics).

Priority rules for attending (important!)
We give priority to participants from MolMed or MGC from Erasmus MC. Other participants will be placed under condition that there are enough places and will be informed in advance whether they will have a place or not. When there are a lot of participants on the waiting list, the workshop will be repeated on a short term.

Attendance fees
The registration fee of non-commercial participants for the Workshop is € 150,00. All participants from the research schools MolMed or MGC from Erasmus MC receive a discount of 100 % and pay € 0.
PhD students and post docs from other schools receive a discount of 50 % and pay € 75.
