The postgraduate school Molecular Medicine (MolMed) launches a novel course on Molecular Aspects of Hematological Disorders.
This course is presented by the department of Hematology of the Erasmus MC in close collaboration with the dept. of Cell Biology and investigators in the field of Hematology of other UMCs in Holland, Belgium and Germany.

Aim
This workshop provides the opportunity of investigators in the field to be updated on the newest developments in molecular biology of leukemic and pre-leukemic disorders.

Program
Investigators from Erasmus MC, Radboud University Medical Center, University Medical Center Groningen, Sanquin Research and Landsteiner Laboratory Amsterdam Medical Centre, Catholic University Leuven, Ghent University and Institute of Molecular Tumor Biology in Münster, will present their most recent work.

The following theme’s will be central in the first two days of the course:

  • Stem cells and microenvironment in health and disease
  • Epigenetics and defective transcriptional control in leukemia
  • Bone marrow failure and malignant progression
  • Molecular developments and therapy

On Thursday morning (June 12th), there will be opportunities for attendees to discuss their scientific program in a master class with one of the Principle Investigators that are participating in the program. 

Speakers
We are proud to announce as keynote speakers: Alan D’Andrea, Jay Bradner, and Ben Ebert from Harvard Medical School in Boston, Ari Melnick from Weill Cornell Medical College in New York, and Elaine Dzierzak from the University of Edinburgh.
Other speakers at this two and a halve day course will be Jan Cools (Leuven), Frank Speleman (Gent), Frank Rosenbauer (Münster), Ivo Touw and Marc Raaijmakers (Rotterdam), J.J. Schuringa, Gerald de Haan (Groningen), Bert van der Reijden (Nijmegen) and Marieke von Lindern (Amsterdam). In addition, a selection of PhD Students and Postdocs from the participating investigators will present and discuss their latest work. 

Presentations by participants
Besides of these invited speakers, PHD students and Postdocs can apply for 15 minute talks. Requests, signed by the applicant and the responsible PI, a short CV and title of the proposed presentation has to be send to h.delwel@erasmusmc.nl and f.vanvliet@erasmusmc.nl before Monday June 2nd, 9 a.m. CET.

Registration fee
For non-commercial participants the course fee, including the master classes, the visit to Blijdorp ZOO with dinner and the Wednesday dinner is €400.
