Annual Course on Biomedical Research Techniques (XIIIth edition)

Introduction
PhD students (and others) often experience that not all expertise for biomedical techniques or assays they need to perform at their research project is readily available in their department. The Postgraduate school offers with this course the wonderful opportunity to exchange this expertise. This course is organized by and for PhD-students.

This course is also part of the Research MSc Infection & Immunity.

The program is set up in six half day sessions and is based on: DNA, RNA, Proteome, Cell, Tissue and organ.

The topics for the half day sessions of each day are:
Day 1: primers and probes, sequencing, SNP-analysis, methylation
Day 2: RNA, RNA expression arrays, RT PCR, siRNA, data mining
Day 3: proteomes, mass spectrometry; Special Discussion Program; site visit core facilities labs;
Day 4: (morning) cytotoxicity, ELISA & flow cytometry; (afternoon) Microscopy: Quantitative confocal microscopy, Image analysis, FRET, FRAP & computer modeling
Day 5: Applied Molecular Imaging: MRI, CT, Nuclear, Optical in vivo; Special Research Integrity Lecture & site visits proteomics labs

See the attached program for more information.

Site visits: planned on Wednesday morning and Friday afternoons. Please register during the course. There are limited places available (15/group).

Full presentation at this course is rewarded with 1,5 ECTS.

Attendance fees
The subscription fee of non-commercial participants for the Course is €650. This is also the fee when the participants with an appointment pay the fee from his/her ‘personal budget’.
All participants from the Postgraduate School MolMed get a discount of 100 % and pay €0. Research master students and PhD students have 50% discount and pay €325. Research master students who pay it themselves have 75% discount and pay €162,50.

PAYMENT: MGC Notification

The Erasmus/LUMC Research School MGC has made a selection of courses it deems fit for its members. This course is not one of them.

Therefore, the Erasmus/LUMC Research School MGC will not pay for its members to participate in this course. All MGC-members will need to pay themselves (or from personal budget) after receiving an invoice (please provide personal address) or will have their research departments pay for them (in that case, please provide ‘kostenplaatsnummer’ of the research group). To see if you are an MGC-member, here you can find an overview of all MGC research groups: http://www.medgencentre.nl/
