Photoshop and Illustrator CS6 Workshop for PhD-students and other researchers

The Erasmus Postgraduate School Molecular Medicine (MolMed) has two main activities: (1) the organization of education for PhD students; and (2) the stimulation of cooperation between several departments with regards to translational research.

The school organizes this two half-day hands-on Workshop on the use of Photoshop and Illustrator CS6 to edit and refine images for medical publications and to make and adapt figures, graphs and tables. It is especially meant for medical PhD-students, Agiko’s and others who wants to know more about making figures for publications in scientific journals, such as Nature, Science and others. Both programs, Photoshop and Illustrator, will be dealt with evenly.
This workshop uses the Adobe program Photoshop CS6 and Illustrator CS6 which can be bought at a heavily reduced price for all Erasmus MC employees via (as part of the Creative Suite CS6). All Erasmus MC employees who have a SOM-pc will have access to Photoshop CS6.

In this workshop you will learn to create a figure with imaginary data from different file-types, such as: ppt, pdf, psd, tiff, jpg and eps. We will be adding pictures and tables into one figure meant for publication. We will be correcting pictures and images for colour and learn about the difference between CMYK and RGB. And we will be importing and exporting data, such as images and figures, to and from Photoshop and Illustrator. It is possible to bring your own images as well. The second day will be partly about modifying your own images.

This Workshop is meant for PhD-students and other researchers who want to learn how to adapt their own images, in order to include them in scientific publications.
Basic knowledge of Photoshop and/or Illustrator is useful, but not necessary.
This course is 0,3

New financial regulations for MolMed-members for Adobe and Research management courses!

Per November 2014 the course Research Management and the Workshops on the Adobe programs Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign are no longer free for MolMed-members.
Due to the high costs of these courses and as these topics are not considered essential elements of the scientific PhD-track, the board of the school has decided to no longer offer these courses for free to MolMed-members.
The fee for these courses can be paid for example from your Erasmus MC ‘Persoonlijk Budget’, in which case you will need an invoice on your own name. The ‘Persoonlijk Budget’ is meant for this kind of courses. The fee for these courses can also be paid by your PI, by yourself or from the budget of the project you work under.
This exception only applies to these courses. All other courses are still free for MolMed-members.

Attendance fees - MGC-regulations
The MGC School told us that they will not pay for this course. So we are sorry, but you need to pay this course by yourselves. But the fee can be reimbursed from your personal budget, in which case we will send you an invoice set in your own name. The Dept. Head has to sign for the reimbursement and you will get the money back.
When you have any questions, or difficulties with this regulations, please contact us a.s.a.p.

Fees can be paid upon an INVOICE. We will send you an invoice (if applicable) after attending the course. Payment per bank can be done together with the number on your INVOICE.

The fees are for all the days of the Workshop. There is no discount for partaking only in part of the Workshop. Our cancellation policy is that cancellation is possible up to one week before the start of the Workshop. Later cancellation will not be accepted, but you are allowed to send a substitute.

Commercial participants & sponsors
(Participants from) companies are invited to inquire for participation and sponsoring.
