Microsoft Office Excel  and VBA 
 
Description 
This course, over the duration of five chapters, gives students the skills they need to harness Visual Basic for Applications, or VBA, to automate many tasks they encounter while using Excel.

Developing Macros
This lesson gets students right into the thick of developing macros for Excel. It shows how to create a macro using the Macro Recorder, how to edit a macro, and how to debug a macro. It also covers how to customize the Quick Access toolbar and hotkeys and looks at how to set macro security.

Formatting Worksheets Using Macros
Lesson two digs into the skills of worksheet formatting. Covered in this lesson is how to: insert text with a macro, format text with a macro, sort data with a macro, duplicate data with a macro, and generate a report with a macro.

Creating an Interactive Worksheet
The third of five lessons in this course covers interactive worksheets. Up for consideration here are the topics of how to determine the appropriate dialog box types to use and how to capture user input using a variety of techniques. 

Working with Multiple Worksheets
The topics of this lesson are how to: insert, copy, and delete worksheets using macros, rename worksheets using macros, modify the order of worksheets using macros, and print worksheets using macros.

Performing Calculations
The final lesson of this course covers how to create user-defined functions in macros and how to automate SUM functions with a macro.

Course fees:
If not otherwise indicated, Erasmus MC PhD courses are free for Erasmus MC PhD candidates and Research Master students who use them as electives. Erasmus MC employees pay €100/day. External PhD candidates pay €100/day. Commercial and other external participants pay €200/day. There is one fee for the entire course, there is no reduction for partial participation.

Cancellation policy:
Erasmus MC Graduate School charges a cancellation fee of €75 for all cancellations made more than 22 days before the start of the course. Fifty percent of the course fee, with a minimum of €75, is due for cancellations made between 21 and 10 days before the start date. The full course fee is due for cancellations made less than 10 days before the start date, or in case of no-show without cancellation. For Erasmus MC PhD candidates the full course fee in case of the cancellation policy will be the equivalent of the number of course days times €100. 

All invoices will be sent to the head of department or for external participants to the e-mail address provided upon registration.
