Course

Hands-on training: ' Organize your work and yourself ' - with outlook and OneNote

Description
This training is intended for professionals who are receiving a lot of email and who are managing many projects and tasks. In this course you will learn to adopt an effective workflow and you will create overview over your total workload. You will clean up our inbox and organize your projects and actions digitally in Microsoft Outlook and OneNote. In addition, you will review your personal working style and get tools to work with more focus in a proactive manner.

Background
You feel that now is the time to find an answer to the increasing pressure at work. You experience difficulty keeping the overview over your work. This may be partly due to an increasing amount of work, responsibilities and email traffic. Every day, you struggle with email and you find it difficult to prioritize and to keep the overview over your actions.

In the training Organize your work and yourself (OYW), you will work in your own digital Erasmus MC account to achieve more overview over your work. As soon as you have a better overview, you will notice that you can prioritize more easily and that you can plan your work more effectively.

Contents of the training
Workflow management is the central theme of the first two sessions. In first instance, you will work in your own Erasmus MC Outlook inbox to clean up your inbox and to rearrange your email archive. You will practice searching email in different ways. You will learn how to process email effectively end how to translate the contents of an email into goals that you want to achieve and into actions that are needed to achieve these goals. The result: an empty inbox every day and a clear overview over the emails that require action.

In addition, you will learn how to achieve overview over your projects and required actions with Outlook (first two sessions) and/or with Microsoft OneNote (session 4). OneNote is a digital notebook which you can use to make project and meeting notes and to organize project-related documents such as pdfs, Word, Excel files or lab results in one central place.

Finally, you will reflect on your personal working style and identify ineffective work routines (in session 3 and 5). You will work with more focus in a proactive manner on those things that are the most important in your work.
